Weight is a depth-and-current problem. Too little and your bait never reaches the fish; too much and it looks like a rock. Tungsten is denser than lead, so the same weight is physically smaller and transmits bottom feel far better.

Bullet Weights Egg Sinkers
A rounded slip sinker for Carolina rigs and bait fishing. Line runs free through it, so a taking fish feels no weight before you come tight.
tradeoff Rolls in current; on a real river it walks downstream and tangles the rig behind it. Use a bank or pyramid there instead.
