One or two sizes off: what the studio says
Fish whose window ends just short of #1. Put a #1 on one of these in the builder and it raises a warning, not an error, with a one-click fix to the nearest edge of the window. A hook a size off still catches fish; it just pins fewer of them.

Yes. Plain hook sizes shrink as the number climbs, so a #1 is bigger than a #2 and smaller than a 1/0. The next size up is 1/0, where the aught scale starts.
How big is a size 1 hook in millimetres or inches?
We do not print a figure, because there is no standard one. Hook sizes are not tied to a length or gap measurement, so a #1 from one maker can differ visibly from another's, and patterns differ more than makers do: a long-shank Aberdeen and a short octopus of the same printed size are not the same hook.
