A swivel is the junction between mainline and leader. It has a rated breaking strength, and if that number is under your line test, the swivel is what fails. Ball-bearing swivels spin under load; barrel swivels mostly do not.

SPRO Power Swivel
The reference barrel swivel. Genuinely rated strength, black finish that does not flash, and available from panfish sizes up to offshore.
tradeoff A barrel swivel only rotates under meaningful load. For a lure that spins hard, you want ball bearings.
Sampo Ball Bearing Swivel
Actual sealed bearings, so it spins freely under load instead of only when the twist gets bad enough. Stainless, made in the USA.
tradeoff Four times the price of a barrel swivel. Worth it for spoons, inline spinners, and trolling; wasted on a bottom rig.
Eagle Claw Barrel Swivel Assortment
A graduated box of brass barrel swivels. Perfectly adequate for freshwater bottom rigs and the cheapest way to learn what size you actually use.
tradeoff Brass corrodes in salt and the stated ratings are optimistic. Do not put these between you and a fish that matters.
